Like I have said in the past, I only sell what I actually use myself.
There are a lot of riders who use Contis.
I have never had problems in the rain, even when fully loaded with panniers in Europe, they never gave way.
Locally we have a lot of ww2 cobblestone roads, where you think in wet conditions would be a nightmare, but again no problems.
I suppose its all down to riding to the road conditions ? & not beyond ?
Its all down to personal preference.
I think Aidan's "on track" comments, pushing the tyres to their limits, speak for themselves...
