Cheers diesel dave........I am guilty as charged of a over full top box ....tools flask of tea etc....incidentally I took both wheels to national tyres and got them balanced for a fiver this morning. The guy pointed out that the front wheel was nine years old and had some points on it more like a fifty pence piece and it was more likely this that was causing the bad handling.......especially at the low speed......so I think I'm going to treat myself to a nice new pair of tyres.

Going to do a tyre search on the forum.........but anyone ones to advise feel free.
