problem with the crank shaft please help me soon

i bought a honda c90 1984 and it worked brillant for the first six months and then last week i went to kick start it and it was slow to get going as i was riding it i heard a banging sound and it cut out i started to take apart as much as i could checking the spark plug and coil for a spark and had nothing so i read something about the pints and took of the flywheel cover which was held on by one bolt which came out easily inside i found the crankshaft had a big gauge out of it where the woodruff ket used to be. i took it to my mechanic and he struggled to find the problem he tested the electricial connections inside the flywheel and found a spark on the bottom two coils but not the top he tells me i need a new engine or a cranks shaft iam in real trouble as i have no money and need it to get around iam not good with bikes as this is my first but iam willing to have a go if i could please help asap a picture is difficult as it is with the mechanic and i have no transport
