School Boy Error

Dunno if you read it, but on the recent trip to France, I commented that the speedo cable had snapped on the way down. I'd ordered a cable off DaveBike (thanks again) and I set about fitting it tonight in the garage. Headlamp out, speedo undone, clocks outish. I undo the cable at the wheel and pull the inner cable out. It's intact

. I know exactly what has happened. I take the front wheel off and sure enough the tangs on the speedo drive are not located and bent out

. It must have slipped on reassembly when I greased the wheel bearings before the trip.It has happened once before many moons ago. Ah well at least I have a spare speedo cable now just in case. I replaced the halogen bulb with a new one as well as the main beam had blown.
