I've tried all sorts if ways to re-proof a textile jacket.

The basic problem is the proofing layer is between the outer and the liner, mine usually fails at the arm bends first.

I've tried Wash-in, Fabsil spray, Aldi's waterproof spray and even Thompsons Waterseal normally used on brickwork;none of them worked. Many of the new treatments are water emulsion based rather than using solvents as a base so they must be allowed to dry completely before letting them get wet or even using the jacket as it will wear off by rubbing easily.

The best solution so far was to buy a unlined motorway repair jacket and wear this over the top when is rains. I do have an over-jacket from Hein Gericks (remember them), and that is waterproof and folds up a lot smaller but it's jet black and I prefer to use something hi-vis.
