Thanks Griz. The flex I'll be using is stuck together as one so I might as well connect the two to the battery while I'm there. Plus Diesel Dave has already made me a section with an inline fuse so again I might as well use that. It's good to know though that I don't have to fuff about with the tank.
I'm not to much up on this electrickery stuff but I think I've got all the bits I need now and it seems to be pretty simple, red to this and black to that.

Ask me again after I've blown up the bike!
