I gave my 3-year-old Cub a good Waxoyling when I bought it, and 14 years later there's no trace of rust. As others have said, up the front forks, under the rear mudguard, inside the compartment behind the battery and inside the main spine; in fact on any hidden metal surfaces you can find other than the engine.

I have a 5-litre(?) can which is drum-shaped and came with a pretty basic spray-gun with a hand-pump attachment. Don't know if you can still get them. The main thing is to stand your Waxoyl container in a bucket of really hot water until it is really thin. Then you attach the gun, pump it up by hand and off you go. It is a filthy job, the stuff gets everywhere and is extremely difficult to remove from clothes, skin, and, I am told, spectacle frames. Cover the floor with masses of newspaper and don't tread in it. I can't imagine what would happen if you took it inside the house on your shoes. White spirit is a solvent, though. When you have finished, it is essential to pump white spirit through the spray-gun until you have dispersed all the Waxoyl, otherwise it will solidify inside and you will have a devil of a job next time.

I gave mine a refresher coat a couple of years ago, but chickened out and used an old paintbrush. Of course you can't do much about the cavities unless you use a spray.

Essentially, Waxoyl is great stuff so long as someone else is applying it.
