when you say custom made ear plugs do you mean cotton wool I've tried a few different ear plugs, mostly don't work for me unless I press them in really deep and tight but often they work loose etc.
The problem with helmets is that they transmit vibration to the ears and magnify it! , I remember making a do it yourself telephones at school with two tin cans and a long piece of string, sound/vibration travels through the taught string and is amplifies by the tin can into the ear, it works pretty well and that's how noise is transmitted from the helmet's outer shell to the ear.
I suppose that's the beauty of the C90 as you rarely go at speeds that would generate excessive noise and are also the bikes are low off the ground.
I wondered if there's actually a helmet out there on the market that isolates vibration from the outer shell to the ear? as making the helmet's outer shell aerodynamic is not going to help that much.
