Long distance C50 touring

Just as a matter of interest to C50 owners, I'd like to relate a tale of across Asia touring I did on a C50 way back in 1979/80. After holidaying in the UK in 1979,I wanted to ride back home (to Australia) doing the classic trans Asia ride.
Not having the cash for a BMW or whatever, I noticed an advertisement for a Honda C50 for sale in nearby Shrewsbury. It was a near pristine, low mileage example and I said to myself - why not? It had a windscreen and a topbox on the rear carrier and I made a canvas throwover set of saddlebags for it.
The long and the short of it is that I rode from Shrewsbury through France (no, I didn't ride across the Channel, I took the ferry) Germany, Austria, Italy, Yugoslavia (as it was called), Greece, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, and India - I arranged to ship the bike from Calcutta to Singapore to Perth (Australia's Perth); then rode across Oz back to my home in Toowoomba. I had many adventures along the way, as can be imagined; and the bike still sits in my garage, albeit covered in cobwebs and hasn't been started for twenty years. The only issues I had with the bike was having the exhaust valve replaced in Teheran, and having a wonky rim retrued in a village in southern Pakistan (I think this was the result of me pushing the bike after a flat). Looking back on it now, I'm pleased fate led me to setting off on a C50. I think the ride took about 4 or 5 months all up.
