thanks dave, did a bit more looking and the seller also had a front wheel dated 1987 and a rear brakeplate dated 87 as well, the brake plate is the same as mine so i sent him an email asking him to comfirm the dates. the 1997 date on the rear wheel turned out (as i expected) to be a misprint and the wheel is out of a 1987 bike the same bike as the other bits. so i have took a chance and bought it. at the price if its not right i should be able to sell it on.
