Hi Nige, Castrol Edge is recommended by BMW (amongst others) but is pricey. Euro Parts are doing a good deal currently and yes it is supposed to last ridiculous mileages. However... Would you leave an oil change that long? As for the Cub I think currently you can buy a 1 litre bottle for about £17.
