Hi Harry, Happy New Year to you. Re thermals etc I searched e-bay for cheap Helly Hansen stuff. Anything with merino wool is very warm but dearer.
Vics Aldi stuff is tremendous value for money and hard to beat though.
I have taken to wearing wellies in this weather as all my leather boots leak eventually. I also have started using those mycoal heat pads in me boots as they are one size too big, great if you suffer from cold feet.
My muffs keep the worst of the wet off my hands and quite a bit of the cold too.
Re waterproofs a tip I learnt off Evo during our abondoned Ryhader trip is 2 pairs are better than one. I use flexothane again cheap off e-bay . Its stretchy and waterproof and non clingy-farmers use them.
I am going out today with it all on and its 12 degrees-I'll probabaly be too hot!
Regards, Diddly
