Just drill and tap the old plug for an M12 cut down bolt and JBweld the old plug back into the ruined thread.

In the scale of bodger artisan-ery this barely even registers.

I had a brandy bottle cork in my old C90 back in the '70's for over 2 years after I dropped the bolt down the drain doing a dodgy oil swap half way to Skegness.

Of course one would never do such a thing nowerdays.
