Porting, filters and main jets

Not been on the forum so much recently, but still tinkering and learning along the way. In case it comes in handy, here is what I’ve learnt about the effect of porting on mixture:
If you port and polish from the inlet valve through to the carb, the engine will run richer and you may be able to come down a jet size.
If you fit a freer flowing airbox/filter the engine will run leaner and you may need to fit a larger jet.
Running leaner causes the engine to run hotter, so best to avoid this, as you will use all your oil in less than 100 miles if you run your bike on full throttle on a motorway or dual carriageway.
Cheers all
