In the early 1960's I acted as "muckanic" to a local road racer who ran a 500 Manx Norton and a 350 AJS 7R,both four strokes,which used Castrol R and neither of these had a "total loss" system.The smell from the exhaust was glorious,and once smelt is never forgotten.
