My daughter phoned me in distress on a dark winters night, saying she'd just hit a pig in her car, and though it was driveable she wanted to know what she should do.

I told her to avoid leaving it in the road if possible, and she should drag it onto the verge out of the way where it would be found.

I could hear her struggle and exertion over the phone, then she said,

'Right dad, done that, what do I do with his motorbike?'
