The main thing is to have a reliable board. While I am sure many (most?) of us would be prepared to pay a couple of pounds a year 'membership' fee, it would involve someone in an unreasonable amount of work to monitor the payments, control passwords etc.
If the alternative is to put up with advertisements, and providing this solves the accessibility problem, I would go for that. But I would object to some of the stuff that has popped up on boards in the past. Anything motorcycle-related would be acceptable, so long as the amount of commercial material didn't swamp the board.
What basis are the other Cub-related boards on, and have they had the same difficulties?
