Battery not charging during use.

Hello All.
I have recently replaced my battery with an excellent suggestion from Bogger. (Thanks Bogger)
But using the starter it simply won't tick over and start, so it's fair to say the battery isn't getting enough recharge during use.
My daily travel time is on average 25mins to and 25 mins from work with the occasional useage during the weekend.
I have checked the main fuse and okay.
Does the unit (forgotten it's name)that charges the battery during use burn out or need replacing after so long?
Any ideas please?
