I must admit that like Bill I do like to ride at about 30-40 mph. John from Nott-End & I are out today, we try to stick to the minor roads so that will probably be our speed. You can see a lot more & it’s safer. But when on the main roads I find that it’s best to ride well out into the carriageway, keep up with the traffic & overtake where necessary. On the motorway I usually travel at 55mph & if an HGV pulls out to overtake I drop back to 50mph to let him overtake, flash him to pull over as soon as he passes then slip stream him at 60mph keeping well out into the carriageway so I can be seen in his mirror. I get buffeted about a little in the slipstream but use less throttle & keep up with the speed of the inside lane.
