Announcing the Cotswold's motorcycle daytrip for anyone wishing to appreciate the splendor of the English countryside south of Coventry. This will be happening on Saturday 12th May 2018.
Come come come with us on this journey down the famous Fosse Way built by the Romans in AD43 marking the western frontier of Roman rule in Iron Age Britain, and connecting Cirencester with Leicester by the A429 through Morton in Marsh. Be astounded by the transformation from the racy urban undertones of Hinckley to the tranquil, idyllic, care free life enjoyed by the people of Brinklow (just the other side of the M6). Then as you near Stow on the Wold you will be amazed by the picturesque limestone buildings that define so many of the Cotswold villages.
Our destination will be Bourton on the Water, a quaint village with its shallow river, many bridges and hoards of foreign tourists. There is a motor museum, toy museum, model village and Bird Land as well as many food and other outlets. A few minutes to the south at Northleach, there is an old prison worth visiting where you can enter the cells once used to incarcerate offenders of such crimes as poaching and whistling on a Tuesday.
If you wish to join this trek we shall be setting off from my place in Ripley at 7.00am passing through Derby at 7.20am, Melbourne at 7.40, Ibstock at 8.00am, Hinckley Esso petrol station on A5 at 8.20am, Brinklow, Bretford, Princethorpe, then Halford at 9.30am, Morton at 9.40, Stow at 9.50 and Bourton at 10.00am
These times are all approximate and will no doubt roll back due to one reason or another.
