For the increase in recent cases of mobility scooter joy riding around Rhayader town centre . Residents report they often ride much too fast with no regard or respect for other pedestrians or road users in all weathers , there are even reports of the machines being crashed and damaged and also driven with flat tyres whilst carrying passengers who appear to be under the influince of drink . Many owners have now resorted to fitting extra security including wheel clamps and alarms whilst leaving their machines unattended , local police say they have little to go on ! 
! but are still looking for a professional gang of baby faced old boy's wearing 1970's rubettes style caps who talk in many accents and run like the wind and always evade being captured .
