Hi, it has an electronic speed sensor linked to the gearbox which is mounted just above the front sprocket engine casing , it's black rubber thingy with wire held in position with one bolt . It reads under about 5/8mph at full whack but I run the larger rear tyre 3.00/17 only because it cost less ! 
! which brings the speedo almost cock on with sat-nav .
Enjoy and if it ain't broke don't fix it !
