C70 mudguard

Morning all.
,
Working on a C70zz atm,frames stripped down beautifully.no corrosion at all as was well sealed at some point in it's life,sadly/though at the left hand side of the mudguard it's come away as stay at back corroded through.
Was thinking of getting two plate,sandwiching together,but decided it'll need welding after cutting out a section...
Was thinking of getting a welder and doing myself as having kit on board may be handy in future as have a cpla 90's as well.
Any advice,mucho appreciated as this is the only issue on my 70 that's stopping me from prepping/spraying,etc frame an metal atm.
