Howareya. Long time no posting. I'm on the Iranian Turkish boarder turkish side.
Made it into Iran for. 100 yards but some shifty 'customs'/money lenders
were asking big bucks for a carnet.
Couldn't really work out what was what but the soldiers seemed to be in cahoots with the whole thing too much money and the visa was technically used up as we'd entered Iran. No chance of another try at another boarder crossing I rekon.
I'd wanted to bimble through Iran for a long time on the cub but delighted to have made it this far anyhow.
One odd thing, the Turkish side insisted the Cub be x - rayed . This involved a few hours of finding the giant x ray machine (presumably for trucks mainly). Any chance this could make it a super cub ?
I couldnt take any photos as it felt a bit iffy with security. Hopefully I am not now sterile.
So heading back towards Istanbul and onto the Balkans over the very beautiful turkish 'alto plano' or high plain. It's about a mile above sea level and the cub runs like shite. On the flat it might be around 35mph and kind of coughs along.
Anyone any tips about upping performance? I'm guessing it's to do with less oxygen in the mix.
The racks I've made to hold my gear make it a pain to access the air filter. I've tried sticking a pen top at the rubber elbow below the filter to open it a bit and let more air in. Am I on the right track?
Didn't seem to make a difference. I'd live with it for a few days though. My traveling companion is on a GS so fair play to their patience.
Are photos easy to post now?
