Hello All
Sorry I’ve not posted for ages, I’m still tinkering away, but never seem to get round to posting anything. So I thought I would tell you about Tigger; Cheri’s little Honda Chaly.
Although not a Cub; this might be of interest to people with fully auto Cubs.
Tigger is a 12V CF70. The two things that made these bikes a little unusual were the fully automatic 3 speed gearbox and unlike the C50 LAE and LAC’s the 12V CF70 has a fully automatic choke i.e. There is no choke lever at all.
So when thinking about performance enhancing modifications, I decided the fully automatic gearbox and choke had to remain.
12V Cf70’s performance is best described as modest; they change gear very early and do not achieve high revs even in top going downhill. Things that probably contribute to this are the fixed ignition timing, tiny carburettor with matched ports in the manifold and head and possibly a fairly gentle cam to provide low rev torque to suit gearbox.
These days Tigger is 88cc and a lot quicker, but still changes gear just as it should and retains a fully automatic choke.
A big hurdle to overcome when increasing the capacity of fully auto’s is the crankshaft which is unique, so you can’t just fit a Cub90 crank.

This in brief (missing out the throwing of spanners and crying).
CMSNL 52mm dome top piston for C70 Big Valve Head made by TOP.
TB 52mm barrel, alloy with steel liner.
Honda ATC70 cylinder head.
Honda 6V C70 camshaft.
Cub90 flywheel and CDI
Honda Bali 100 carb (16mm Keihin with electric choke). Modified for 4 stroke use and to fit in the Chaly frame.
Modified Monkey bike rear facing manifold and 3-off bored out C70 insulating spacers (Chaly’s like to boil their carbs).
Engine sprocket increased from 15 to 17 teeth.

It might sound like I’ve spent a fortune doing this, but all the parts were used and came from my shed with the exception of the carb and a thermal switch which I bought on ebay.

Take care all and happy tinkering.
Nut.
