Have now fitted 110cc Lifan engine to my Cub 90.Bolted straight in no probs at all. The colour codes on wiring matched up OK as well.
I was expecting snags with the footrest bar. But a little coaxing with a large
vise and a lump hammer persuaded it to fit OK. It fitted in the original position with the bar between the bottom of the engine and the top of the exhaust. It was a bit tight for clearance with about 1/16th inch each side. The exhaust fitted straight on. It does help if you push the swinging arm spindle inwards, this allows the exhaust bracket to be moved upwards into position.
The clutch lever has been fitted next to the switch and I extended the handlebar slightly.
I have used the original manifold and carb, this enabled me to use the existing air filter assembly.
Road impressions are performance is very similar to the 90. I really like having 4 gears and best of all a proper clutch. It makes riding much smoother and changing down through the gears a real pleasure.
An excellent conversion which I can certainly recommend.
Oh and the insurance position. I contacted my insurers Footman James and explained that I was fitting an engine that developed an extra .5 hp and was 20cc bigger. The girl went to see her manager. No Extra Charge!
If I ever find out how to post pictures I will put some up.
Ride Safe Mike.
