Find a club member close enough to take a look.
There are a lot of possible pitfalls on bikes that have been left standing; we have all heard the urban myths about biles that have been left standing since blah, and it started and ran. What they won't say is that it gave up after 10 minutes 'cos they ruined the motor/wheel collapsed etc etc.
I once went with a friend to view a very old bike that had been recently uncovered, thankfully the owner was too elderly to do anything with it. Because we stripped it before trying to start we found various things that saved a whole heap of trouble including a split brake shoe, wheel bearings with grease that had turned to stone and although the casing bolts were tight in place the main clutch nut had been taken off and left in the bottom of the casings - even just trying to kick it over would have wrecked the motor.
