As it was my first Matlock thought I'd put a few words to some pics... As I left it late to commit I couldn't get the Friday off work, so did some demon white van man style driving and got home for 2pm. Bike was already packed so quick shower and a shit (though not actually in that order it just rolls off the tongue better!)and I was gone.......My rough estimate I guessed could be 7 or a bit less hours to get to Matlock, my main worry was putting up the tent in the dark(I struggle in daylight!) So after leaving Dorset at about 2.30 I rolled into Matlock at 8.30pm with darkness descending fast.I then couldn't remember how to get to the pub on church street as I'd only memorised where I should have gone! Rode around for a while before finding a taxi driver to ask the way (its now dark),in the middle of getting instructions Amie and her side kick found me! After more directions (with a strong northern twang missed half of it!)only kidding Amie I rolled into the campsite around 9pm and almost rode into some scary looking bloke I mean Nige! Who lent me his head torch to help me get the tent up(which I tried to pocket without success)He did make me a coffee although I had to lend him my pot! and cup to! Some amazing bikes turned up and Saturday and Sundays ride out were top.After freezing to death on the Friday and Saturday night (possibly my budget Argos sleeping bag!) I planned to complete the Sunday ride out and bolt for home.I prepacked my stuff ready for my return after the run.As we didn't get back until just after 6pm I threw my stuff at the bike(it stuck) and downed a pot noodle...Checked my sat nav(2 pages of a road map torn out and wedged behind my screen)and headed south. Arrived home just after midnight with my legs screaming for mercy! Only stopped twice to chuck fuel in the tank from my own jerry cans...T'was a top weekend!![img]
