Anyone fancy a little bimble up the Ribble valley. On Friday 27th December. We could meet at Junction 3 M65. At 10.30am.

Go past Hoghton Tower (where King James knighted the loin of beef “Sirloin”). http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lancashire/4451935.stm

Down the back lanes past the Nabs Head where they hold the “motorbike show”.

Over the tops to Ribchester. https://www.google.co.uk/#q=ribchester+roman+museum&undefined=undefined

Up Jeffery Hill. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=jeffrey+hill+lancashire&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=oTKrUtf3GdCAhAfW-4HQCw&ved=0CDIQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=855

And on past “The Inn at Whitwell” where the Queen has stayed. http://www.innatwhitewell.com/.

Then on to Dunsop Bridge which is one of two main contenders for the location of the exact geographic centre of Great Britain. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunsop_Bridge.

Up through the Trough of Bowland which is a valley and high pass in the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Where we may get a brew at the roadside caravan.

Visit Abbeystead where The Abbeystead disaster occurred on the evening of 23 May 1984 when a methane gas explosion destroyed a waterworks' valve house

Back down the west side of the Bowland fells via Longridge. :D :D
