I dont think there has ever been a golden age.This is a myth caused by the nostalgia sickness.
The old brit bikes were for most every day grey porridge to get to work sometimes forced into use for longer runs because they had no other transport.
By 1968 Motorcycling was on the decline until the weekend cowboys came in the 90s as Nostalgia for their youth set in.
