Rivi run out
Postby Bogger ยป Sun Sep 01, 2013 4:29 pm
Lucky has be dying to get out for a ride with a few others on his Cub, so he put forwards a trip to Rivington Barn for today, Sunday. After changing his mind about twenty times ref the meeting point and times I turned up at the allocated rendevues on time only to find no one there. I think they saw me coming and hid . I made my own, billy no mates, way to Rivington fully expecting them all to be there. There were plenty of bikes there, just no Cubs. In fact after I had turned up there still were no Cubs as I was on my Yamaha V90 2stroke . Five minutes later Mick-H turns up on his fuel tanker Cub and immediately got some very strange looks and questions ref his auxillary tank. As we are having a natter Blakey, Horrobags and Lucky turn up. Time for a brew and more bike chat. There must have been a hundred or so bikes at Rivi and I swear to God Horrobags has owned nearly every model on show. I met Horror a few weeks back and he's changed bikes three times since then . We decided a quick spin was in order so off we set for Chorley Yamaha bike shop in er Chorley . Horrobags led as we made our way out of Rivington down the twisty winding roads. Lucky's bike is in really good standard condition, but God it's slow it couldn't even keep up with me yaninmar 2smoke  . Soon we descended upon The Yamaha dealer and were quickly perusing the bikes and scooters for sale. Horror had owned most of these as well . We had another brew and decided a further run was called for. I wonder if Lucky will keep up this time.
We set off into Chorley to link up with the A6 then over the M61 to link up with the A674 towards Blackburn, Mick was leading Blakey had headed for home at the dealership, probably fed up with the rest of us , and Lucky was bringing up the rear, again. The weather was a bit dull and overcast but warmish and pleasant enough to ride in . The A674 took us to the M65 interchange roundabout where we sort of doubled back on ourselves to take us back towards Rivington but on the A675. Hmm where's Lucky?, we wait a bit then two of us double back. Thankfully he was waiting for us at the interchange roundabout. Back on track we make our way, fighting against the strong winds to Belmont, where we take a sharp right and start the steep climb up and down Rivington road back to Rivington Barn. Back at the barn we have another brew, yes we will be p*****g like race horses later on . Lucky is a little concerned about his bikes lack of performance and asks me to road test it and give my opinion he obviously doesn't know me that well . I have to say it was a little flat. I have offered to give it an 'Italian tune up' he seemed quite pleased at the prospect . Time for home. We head back towards Bolton and one by one peel off to make our separate way home. All in all a very pleasant few hours out on the bikes. We have even threatened to do it all again.
