If your talking about the 6v manual type tensioner (I think the 12v is the same as the 90).
Don't touch the bottom nut/preset spring pressure.
Set the motor to TDC on compression stroke.
On the side of the motor will be a locknut and slotted stud.
Loosen the locknut
Slacken the screw
Tighten the screw
Tighten the locknut
Job done.
