The big structural frame killer on Cubs is the downtube just above the rear of the engine, where it's dimpled to clear the crankcase. It can rot through from the inside cause it's open to rear wheel dirt & road salt. (only seen it happen on late models ie 12 volt) leaving the bike sagging in the middle. It's hard to see with the engine in place but worth a look if the frame's bad round the arch.
