Buy some metal, round square or hex as preferred.

Drill a hole though the middle and tap for your top box mounting bolt threads and cross drill for a tommy bar then you can tighten better than any wing nut and remove with any bit of metal that can fit in the cross hole.

Shorter method would be to buy some of those studding joiner nuts from Wicks that are about 4x longer than std, and just cross drill them for a tommy bar.
