Hello All.
Its funny how things turn out. I didn't want another project, but somehow Bowman looking for a new bike resulted in me buying one instead. I was wondering what to do with it; new race bike, nope we've got Big Mig and Noodle for that, new Enduro, nope i've got Poppet for that, new fast crunchie, nope i've got Scruff for that, i've also got a Monkey bike, a Harley, a couple of LS650's a GS550 an ATC 70, a standard Cub90. In short i've got too many bikes, so why did I have a new one I wondered, it needed a purpose. I'm stubborn about some things, like clutches for example. For me Cubs are semi autos......crunchies, you fit a manual clutch and its no longer a crunchie. So with this in mind Scruff was developed. I think Scruff is probably about as powerfull as you can go within the limitations of a semi auto clutch and its tendancy to slip. But others are more open minded and have decided to break the mold and fit manual clutch engines and thus opened up almost endless posibilities of capacity and power. Maybe not Crunchies anymore but definately still step-thru's, Honda step thru's So all of a sudden my new bike has a purpose, I'm going to move with the times and build a new quick Honda Step-thru, this time with a manual clutch. However I can draw comfort from the fact that my new bike always had a manual clutch I don't want to give too much away, but my total on the road budget will be £900, build time 12 months, it will have brakes, frame, forks etc to match its performance and the power is going to be delivered from a four valve twin cam single, through a six speed box.
Happy Tinkering all.
