c50 wont start

my c50 suddenly stopped running as though i'd run out of petrol
the tank is half full
i checked its getting fuel to carburettor. it is (i cleaned the filter)
i checked its getting a spark. it is(but the spark plug doesnt smell of petrol)
ive tried kick starting. it wont
ive tried bump starting. it wont
the battery is new
the bike is old (1982)
if anyone has any ideas how to fix it i would be very grateful
