Hi Dave , I was always told Prevention is better than a cure !! When ever i've got anything new or nearly without the rust i've blabbed it in grease then keep on blobbing the grease and oil on especially on them pivot points of the stand both sides which you can get to better with the rear wheel removed and panel mounts / bolts / frame also . I have never experienced any problems and run the bike all year & weathers and then when i get shut i'll just jet wash all the excess crap off to reveal nice paint work underneath hopefully !
