Some of you may well know about the CD200 i've been trying to do up/fettle over the past 12months. Done all the paintwork etc and after a carb clean started up and ticked over really well. However to get it to run clean through the rev range has been a real problem. So I set about sorting it out months back. New plugs x2, new points, condensor, plug caps, fuel tank, tappets done for Britain. Marginally better but still not right. So new/second hand carb, new coil and leads. No better. Obviously carbs stripped on numerous occassions. No better. Head off (s***e job) valves removed. nowt wrong with the seats but ground them in anyway. Head back on. Trip to Klippys on it for a night on the lash, 200 ml trip seemed okish but still not right but got a real 'feeling' for what the bike was doing. Using a bit more fuel than I expected. Almost certain it was down to carburation and not an electrical missfire. But it's had another carb and the syptoms had not changed?? :/ Stripped the carb down again checked everything again o.O . Everthing seemed ok. The needle was on it's second to lowest position, as in the needle was as next to its lowest position in the jet. Dropped it to its lowest position and rode it home from work. 90% improvement in the way it runs ^_^ Thank God. I need to get hold of a new needle and jet and I reckon that will have sorted the problem once and for all. I would honestly never had thought from the way it was running that it was fuel I was convinced it was electrical as at times it was running really rough. I did have a Cub a few years ago that really benefitted from a new needle but would have put money on this not being the problem with this bike, particularly with having used 2 carbs both with the same proble. :blue: :blue: but as I said nearly sorted 8) .
