I had precisely that trouble with the wheel being much closer to one fork than the other - so much so that the tyre actually rubbed on the side of the forks under compression. I gather that it is unusual for Cub wheels to be dead central at the best of times. Anyway, I changed the fork bushes (which didn't seem to be much worn) and haven't had the problem since. A couple of tips; make sure you buy the right kit - grease nipple type are different from non-nipple type. And the suspension units can be an absolute pig to remove and replace, but plenty of people on here will be able to give you tips when you come to it.
