hi, yes, its a bit of a shame about jase as we were on the home straight with only 20 miles to go. has to be the worst side wind i,ve ridden in , in a straight line the bike had to be keeled right over with a leg right out to aid balance. jase was caught out, blown off the road down a bank in to a field, just missing a tree, the bike had gone end over end breaking mirrors, mudguard. headlight damaged , plastics broken, bars twisted ,rear rack pressed right down, possible twisted frame at rear. as soon as we realised he was missing (30 seconds)we rode back to see about 4 cars parked on the side of the road, jason lying on his back with people round him, i was a tad worried. turns out he was talking but the people there insisted he lay flat as they,d seen it happen and suspected summit nasty . two ambulances arrived along with the police. the municipal policeman had to then call the national police and they arrived, guns and all.by this time jase had been put in the ambulance with suspected broken shoulder and a lump on his head that was causing concern so off to hospital they went. the police insisted on the bike been taken to the station. they actually turned out to be really sound . to cut a long story, the barman at guines managed to contact the hospital and after an xray and cat scan we,d arranged a lift. he arrived at the campsite at 1.30am, 8 hours after it happened, with broken collar bone ,cuts and bruises. after me and jj collecting the bike on sat morning , jase rode it to the ferry and fuzz,s . all,s well that ends well. :)
