Last week having my CM MOTed and my tester Noel casually mentions he's got an old 50 stored away in his garage.. "The electric start one" (ooohhh.. C102 I'm thinking, trying not to sound too enthusiastic 
) ..By the end of the MOT an deal I couldn't refuse had been agreed, so I've been to pick it up today.
He described it as 'rough' so I was expecting the worst, but it's dead solid and original and all there. Engine turns with good compression and there's really not a lot wrong as far as I can see.
Reg is lost from the DVLA database unfortunately, so I'll go for an age-related. I've dated the Surrey C-reg to March-April '65 but the frame number seems to be early '64 so it should end up with a B-reg.
Plans are to clean up and rustproof but not 'restore' as such, as it's a really honest original paint bike.
I'll replace a few bits like the rear shock chrome shrouds cause I've got decent identical early C50 ones lying around, but I want to keep the general patina.
It's even got a tank full of 1990s 4-star which still smells like petrol! 
The C102s kept the tiny rear lamp a bit longer than the C100, for some reason. Very pleased it's got that!
