Rear brake rod..... also....

Hello All.

On the way home from work my rear break decided to stop working!!!!

Luckily, it was on a junction pulling away rather than a full stop.

I thought it was something terrible.

Got home to find the split pin has broken off and the rod was rest on the main stand rather than dragging on the floor.

Lucikly I had a spear split pin and repaired the situation. PHEW!! :P

Is it right that such an important feature is relying upon just a small thin spilt pin? :O

On a side note, whenever I bought parts for my bike, I have based buying them on the reg which is a H reg (1991), as that is what I am normally asked.

But when I spoke to Fowlers of Bristol for a possible purchase of a rear brake rod, they asked for a bike frame number.
I gave it to them and they replied stating the bike is in actual fact a 1986 model. o.O

So which is correct please?
