Don't let them frighten you Ian, It helps if you have the correct tool for undoing the steering stem adjusting nut but otherwise its a matter of removing that nut with with a screwdriver and hammer.
Put the front end of the bike on an old towel or piece of card or something as the ball bearings can fall out onto the floor. Take photos of the headlight assembly, showing the order in which parts go together because if you are using an Haynes manual for reference it's not correct.
Now get on with it! XD
