Thanks for the suggestions guys. I've rode a bigger bike on the motorways in Europe but I'm not sure I want to take my chances too much over there on my Cub, especially Italy, anyway the trip is not about getting there in a set time. It's about taking everything in. I'm thinking of adding an extra fuel tank and a 12v socket to power my IPHONE using the Genius Maps App that I've downloaded to it. If anyone has thought about using an Iphone as a Sat Nav I highly recommend this as it does not need a data connection to work as it uses pre-installed maps for which the whole of Europe is only £39.00 (which includes UK) and weatherproof mounts are not that expensive and coupled with a Bluetooth helmet is brilliant. Has anyone added a 12v socket to their bike and is it straight forward? I've been on the M1 and A1 plenty of times without any issues as the best advice somebody gave me was to ride and hold the centre of the lane and weave about a little and this really does makes vehicles closing in behind you back right off and overtake you leaving plenty of space. The gentle weaving action feels quite normal after a few miles even if it looks a little bizarre and is really your best protection I've found. I did the round the coast of Great Britain a few years ago with no experience of long distance riding
http://youtu.be/qvYYHc6I7HI and learned a hell of a lot in a very short space of time and gliding along at 35mph all day with fantastic scenery around you beats riding a bigger bike hands down unless of course you are in a hurry. If anyone has any other hints/tips etc. I would love to hear from you, especially about that 12V socket. Many thanks and Happy New Year to you all.
