Hi Chris,

I had exactly what you describe happen to my first bike (a Puch M50 Sports ^_^ ).

We (and by we I mean me and my step dad... or rather just my step dad) managed to hand grind the fly wheel back on.

Simple method, popped a little fine grinding paste on the shaft and carefully turned the flywheel onto it, winding left a few turns, then right, keeping it very straight at all times.

It took several hours doing this, making sure it was inline and under just enough pressure to grind.

Once finished, rinsed out the paste with thinners, and tightened on the flywheel with a new wood-ruff key.

You might find it ends up too close to the coils for this to be practical, depends how wrecked the shaft is (mine had been filed by the previous owner for a 'better fit' :/ ).

Anyway, we thought it was worth a go, there was nothing to lose and spares were non-existent for that bike. It ran fine until I sold it on. <g>

I often wonder where it is now, whether the flywheel ever fell off again, and how much it would have been worth if I kept it...

Much Love

Ric <g>
