In November I decided to buy a new Wave; (thought I’d treat myself £1800 seem really cheap) went to Preston Honda took a look at one but got interested in a Honda Vision (same price). I shopped around on the internet & came up with a price of £1499 at Dobles for either. I got interested in the twist & go automatic gears recently & having only owned a Scooter once back in the 60’s I decided that a change is as good as a rest I went for the Vision.
I did as Pete did with his “Pox” after doing about 20 miles to warm it up got in on the motorway & was surprised when I found that I was able to slipstream a HGV at 60mph. The bike pulled better that I expected. I suppose it’s down to the variator keeping the engine to maximum torque. Honda advertise fuel consumption about 140mpg I’ve done about 500miles now & got 121 mpg from the last tank full. I Know the overall efficiency must be affected by the fan & the variator. So I don’t expect to get the as good consumption as with 140 mpg which I get with my Address or what I would have got with the Wave but why worry life's a compromise.
Why did I buy it? Well, No messing about with those fiddly gears, nice big comfortable seat with plenty of room for Sheila on the back, no need to worry about punctures because it’s got tubeless tyres. As well as that it has a larger tank, built in luggage rack, more room for storage, it’s a lot easier to remove the panels than an Innova or Address (see pics.), incidentally it will do 50mph two up & it is a Honda.
Cons……..Well I’ve not worked out how to get the back wheel off yet . I think the exhaust has to come off ……..New gasket???
