Ok this is what I have found to work today.

On hard plastic. Isopropanol will clean the goo off but be careful to avoid any buttons with printed symbols on them as the Isopropanol will remove them.

On soft vinyl...washing up liquid or car shampoo diluted in hot water and use over and over wiping the surface clean and then re-applying (as bogger suggested) I also used a dishwasher sponge, the sort with a soft scourer pad on one side (no need to scrub).
This did the trick.

There were a couple of hard plastic bits that the goo would not come off even using Thinners, brasso, white spirit, Nitro fuel etc, in the end I sanded them down using wet and dry and applied some T-CUT

interior looking like new now.
